How can you treat facial pain from an ear infection?
2 Commentsa_webb43 asked:
My friend has a bad ear infection – he went to the doctor and got medicine, but still has a fever and the entire side of his face is in pain. He is wondering if he can put something warm on it to ease the pain, such as a heating pad…I was thinking that might not be a good idea because he has a fever, but have no basis for that opinion, just a thought. Does anyone know or have any alternatives to suggest? Thank you!

The heating pad works well by relaxing the muscles and confusing the nerves.

A heating pad is ok as long as he does not have the heating pad turned up too high and does not go to sleep on it. He may want to consider putting a washcloth that has warmed under hot running water on his face several times a day. I hope he feels better soon.
