I have a 14 month old boy. He has his first ear infection in both ears. What should I be doing to make sure I don’t aggravate it any further? Can I wash his hair, clean his ears, take him outside, can he play with other babies?

We stayed at my in-laws house over the weekend and my father in law smokes. He does not smoke in the house while we are there, but does all the other times so there is a smoke residue in the house. Could this cause an ear infection in my babies?
