I battled an ear infection for over three weeks. Finally the severe ear pressure and pain subsided. The ear specialist said that my ears looked good and that they were healing or almost healed. My ears still hurt, but now pain killers make the pain go away where as before they hardly helped.

The pain I feel now feels like I have sore ear drums. How long will it take for all the pain to go away? Is it normal to have pain after the infection goes away?
I last saw the doctor on 2/10 and she said they looked good. Of course, all she can see is the eardrum and can’t see all the way down the eustation tube which might be where I still have blockage.

FYI, I went through two different sets of antibiotics and did not experience relief until the specialist gave me steriods. My last steroid pill was 2/10. The pain is coming back and seems to be progressing as of 2/13.

Do I need to go back on steroids?
