I took my son to the doctor today; he has had a fever since yesterday. I thought he might have an ear infection, and sure enough, I was right. I just thought, I bet that is what it is. But, he had never tugged on his ears or anything – just the fever. What I’m wondering is, how can you tell if your child has an ear infection? Any other signs I should be watching for besides ear tugging and fever?

My kid has a ear infection, when using the Ear thermometer to scan her fever, it shows very high temperature. When doing a rectal scan – the fever is lower? Is the ear infection causing the ear to be hotter than the body temperature? My Ear thermometer is very accurate and I have not yet had any issues with it. Any suggestions on what is causing this? and also should i stop checking her temperature in the ear.

4 days ago I took my 9 month old to the doctor for a fever and stuffy/runny nose. the Dr. checked her ears, because my baby would hit herself in the head every so often, so I was afraid of an ear infection. Well the Dr. said she did not find anything, the baby is fine. 4 days later, she ran another fever and her nose is still stuffy and runny, now she has discharge from her eyes. I took her to the urgent care and the Dr. there says she has a really bad double ear infection and upper respiratory infection. Is it possible that my baby had the infection 4 days ago and it was overlooked?

He is wondering if he can put something warm on it to ease the pain, such as a heating pad…I was thinking that might not be a good idea because he has a fever, but have no basis for that opinion, just a thought. My baby had an ear infection and was given Omnicef. 2 weeks later he was rechecked at the doctor and the doc said his ears were good, except that one still had some fluid. But still my baby ALWAYS is pulling at the ears and holds them constantly, while he is just sitting there or drinking his bottle. He doesnt have a fever but his head feels warm all the time. What does that mean? Could this mean something other than the ear infection? Like something worse?
