New York City Ear Nose and Throat Care and Doctors

I know its gross and I’m sorry… I got an ear infection from a cold and I don’t know how to clean my ear out. It feels like there is a bubble around my ear so I can’t hear normal. I’ve been on antibiotics for 3 days now and it doesn’t feel like its changed at all. Will my ear clean itself out soon or is there anything I can do?

PS. I’ve been laying on a heating pad a lot hoping that would help.

I’m 12. I’ve had a cold for about 3 days now, it started out with a sore throat, then my nose got really stuffed. & it still is. Tonight, I noticed that it felt like there was water being pushed out my ear then back in. & from previous ear infections, that’s usually how it starts. I did go swimming in the ocean a couple days ago & did put my head under water, could that be it? But I really can’t handle an ear infection, I’ve been through enough in the last 4 days. I already layed on a heating pad, that kind of helped, & I’m going to sleep with it tonight, but is there any other way that I can do something to prevent it?

My friend has a bad ear infection – he went to the doctor and got medicine, but still has a fever and the entire side of his face is in pain. He is wondering if he can put something warm on it to ease the pain, such as a heating pad…I was thinking that might not be a good idea because he has a fever, but have no basis for that opinion, just a thought. Does anyone know or have any alternatives to suggest? Thank you!
